There are not good transitions from one story to the next in this series of events, but they must be told.

Have you ever seen the movie "The Funny Farm" with Chevy Chase? If you have, then you probably remember the mailman. If you have not, please go watch it and you will get a good laugh when you realize what I am talking about. This is how I imagined Dad's mail man to be, and our mailman for the time that we lived in the green trailer house. We always had issues getting mail and it was always blamed on the mail man. Complaints were made over and over, or so we were told. During a period of time that Crystal and her family lived in the green trailer house, she was waiting on some checks to come in the mail. When those checks didn't arrive, she called to see what was going on, she found out that the mail was in a hold status. We were told that it was kept at the Post Office. We were always told that something got screwed up in the system or they accidentally put the hold on the wrong address or again, the mail man screwed up. Could this also just be a string of their bad luck? Some of the mail items that were held and never received for me in particular almost caused some major issues.

Dad lives on a 10 acre lot. Growing up we were accustom to animals on the farm, chickens, calves, horses, even raccoons. Naturally when Crystal and her family decided to get a horse, they were allowed to keep the horse out on dads property. This also meant that they were out there daily tending to the horse. Dad gave them a key to his house in case they needed to use the restroom or needed anything.

Well my dad decided to go down to Lake Spence with my grandfather for a week. My grandfather owns some property down there and usually takes trips to work on things, sometimes they go just to get away. While away on this trip, Rhoda was sick and telling Crystal that she didn't have any food. She blamed dad for taking all the money they had for the lake trip. She thanked God that she had chicken eggs to eat and take to work for food. Crystal and her family brought over dinner 3 times to help her out.

This one particular trip dad came home in an unusually angry mood. He was cursing and all worked up over something. Crystal decided to call my uncle who was there at the lake to see if something happened while they were there, what would have caused him to be so angry. My uncle explained that while at the lake Rhoda texted him and said that Crystal and her family left all the lights on, the TV going and that some things had been moved around and messed with in the middle bedroom. Crystal told dad that okay, she has teenage kids who could have left the lights on and the TV on, but they had no reason to mess with anything in the middle bedroom. The middle bedroom was used as a storage. We later found out that the Kirby vacuum cleaner was missing and it just so happened it was kept in the middle bedroom. Later on she told my dad that the Kirby was in the shop. Due to some discoveries that will be discussed in later blogs, I decided to call the Kirby shop, as there is only one in Lubbock and see if their Kirby was there. I was told that there were no Kirby's at the shop under the name. I naturally tried a few different names and was told no. We discovered that the missing items along with the vacuum had been pawned! She was trying to set Crystal and her family up for taking the vacuum. Surely she wasn't trying to cause issues.

July 2018

Dad and Rhoda were given a desk. The went to pick up the desk and bring it back to their trailer. Dad asked her to back the truck up to the porch, so they could easily unload it and bring it in the house. Dad lowered the tail gate and was helping her navigate right up against the porch. As she was backing up the truck, all of a sudden she gunned it. Dad had to jump up on the porch so he didn't get pinned. When he said he asked her about it she said it was an accident and she thought she was hitting the brake. Now one thing I know about my dads truck at the time a 1994 Ford, was it was hard push the gas petal down. It took a lot of pressure before the truck would kick in and go. There were ruts left in the yard she had pushed the gas so much. Was this on accident or on purpose? Surely she wouldn't have tried to kill him
