The Forgery Factory

While we sit and wait for the wheels of justice to turn at their slowest pace, these are some of the thoughts, questions, and concerns that remain constantly on our minds every single day.

When people think about forged documents, they often picture a single fake signature or one altered piece of paper. What I keep coming back to is the sheer amount of time it would take to create not just one document, but hundreds.

Start with the bank statements. Every month there was a checking account statement and a savings account statement. We only have about five to six years' worth, but we know there were likely more. Even using six years as an estimate, that's 72 months. Two statements per month equals 144 separate documents.

Then there were all the other papers that appeared over the years. Letters given to Dad. An investigation report about past employers claiming she was the perfect employee. A document from a landowner supposedly explaining paperwork errors related to a property. A deed. Letters sent to TRS and the IRS. As far as we know, the total reaches at least 149 questionable documents.

What is hard for me to comprehend is not just the number of documents, but the commitment required to create them. Every page had to be designed to look somewhat authentic (Not really). Names had to be researched. Formats had to be copied. Signatures had to be imitated. Some documents required notary stamps, whether stolen, altered, or fabricated. Each piece demanded attention to detail and planning.

Think about the time involved. Hours spent searching for names online. Hours studying signatures. Hours editing text, adjusting layouts, printing pages, and making everything look convincing. Then imagine repeating that process month after month, year after year.

Most people use their energy to build something: a career, a family, a business, a reputation. What amazes me is the amount of effort it would take to maintain an entire fictional paper trail for years. The deception itself is one thing. The dedication required to sustain it is something else entirely.

Even today, I cannot imagine living that way. I cannot imagine waking up month after month knowing that another statement had to be created, another story had to be supported, another document had to be forged. The mental burden alone would be exhausting.

When I look back at these documents, what stands out most is not the paper. It is the years of time behind them. Hundreds of hours spent creating a false reality that eventually could not withstand the truth.
