Indigent

Crystal and I were just supposed to sweep everything under the rug. Act like nothing happened. Dad apparently forgave her and I guess we should too. It is not that easy at least not for me and based on our conversations not for Crystal either. We had just started small talk communication back with dad and didn't want to lose that small glimpse of hope we had. That is why we didn't update the blog, because if we did and she found out it would cause problems again. Everyone, just ignore the past and accept her again as though nothing had happened. She started coming around to all the family functions again. You can image how awkward this became. So we did, we walked around on egg shells around dad and her. We didn't stop wanting to pursue what we believed was justice either. We had to walk a fine line.
She was still on probation for her embezzlement charges, so you better believe we were making sure her probation officer knew what she was doing. It seemed as though the probation office didn't really care, or she was telling them another story. How can we know, all we can do is try and make sure she is held accountable. Every time she went out of town, we would let them know. She was getting off probation soon. I didn't fully understand how probation and restitution worked so I called and asked questions. During this conversation I was asking how she could be getting off her probation when she hasn't paid anything in restitution. She had herself declared indigent. We were confused on how she could do that. She would of had to answer questions about her income, expenses and property. She was living with my father and not paying anything in rent, bills or anything and had a full time job, the same job she had before she was indicted. The only bill she had was her car payment and she even purchased a newer car while under probation. I asked why they could remove her probation without the money being paid back and I was told that the companies that she was supposed to be paying restitution to would have to file a civil suit to recoup the remaining money. I will never fully understand the lack of justice and how she has skirted around without even a small amount of accountability.
Her son who live in California moved back to the area. Soon this was all we ever heard talked about. How he had bought an expensive house and several things that he was starting to do. He started fixing up dads land and putting cattle on it, putting up fences and seeding grass, brought out a tractor, a UTV. He even put equipment and cattle out on my uncle's land. They even were trying to get him and his family a place to stay during our family's 4th of July get together, which I never understood and don't guess I ever will. Every event we would get together that was almost the only thing dad would ever talk about. We just listened and said "that's nice". Deep down we were screaming we do not care and don't understand how dad doesn't realize what he is doing to us by only talking about these things.
We have really started to try being 100% honest with dad with how we are feeling and the way things perceived. The only response we get from him is "I Know". I guess this is just the way things are going to be for now and we hope that she messes up again and is somehow made to pay for her actions. It is our only option at this point. We will keep on walking on egg shells and be concerned with how dad is going to react.
Whatever It Takes to keep our hope alive of some kind of relationship with our father.
