Are We Crazy or Is Something Off?

Lately things have just felt… off.
Most of what we know about what’s going on with her has been secondhand from dad, and honestly, it’s hard to keep track because of how he explains things. He tends to mix different stories together in one conversation, so it all kind of blurs. I remember when we were younger hearing that she had lupus, but that was never really talked about much. Now all of a sudden we’re being told she has Parkinson’s.
On top of that, she’s supposed to be getting some kind of brain scan related to the Parkinson’s, but first she has to talk to a psychiatrist before they’ll even do it. Then there’s the dental stuff—she lost one of her teeth, getting an implant, and apparently the dentist messed it up and had to send it back. Everything just keeps stacking up.
And of course, none of this is cheap.
Dad ended up taking out loans to cover all these medical and dental costs, but we’re not even sure he got receipts or clear documentation for everything. That’s where it starts to feel weird. Around the same time all these big expenses show up, she suddenly has money coming in—bonuses from work, gift cards, even a charity gave her $3,000 and specifically told her not to spend it on medical bills, but on herself.
Then she turns around and gives dad $1,000, and somehow their upcoming cruise suddenly gets paid off.
It just doesn’t add up.
We’re hate assuming the worst, but her track record and the timing of everything feels too convenient. Medical issues piling up, dad taking on debt, and then random money appearing at the same time. It’s hard not to question it.
The hardest part is watching dad go along with it without really questioning anything. He just believes her. And at the end of the day, he’s an adult—there’s only so much we can do. We can try to point things out, ask questions, encourage him to be careful… but we can’t control his decisions.
We just don’t want to see him get pulled back into another financial mess.
At some point, it becomes his responsibility. That doesn’t make it any easier to watch, though.
